We are changing the format of the AWS News. I want to provide you with some insights regarding the AWS new releases and updates. This thread will be split into three sections:

  • News: Any interesting news I find and their impact in the landscape.

  • Events: Any upcoming events

  • Posts: Any interesting posts from my fellow peers

News

🎆This is huge! Amazon Redshift introduces history mode support for eight third-party SaaS applications. Having a history mode in the data will allow you to run multiple analyses on your data, taking into account historicity (i.e., Churn). Pretty much this is the fundamental property of analytical data 😁

AWS DMS is one of my favourites, while my worst service (don’t tell me this makes no sense, for me it does). It’s always nice to see features that will allow you to have one less thing to worry about when you use DMS. AWS DMS Serverless now supports automatic storage scaling. 🎉

And for those who are trying to save a “few” bucks 💸 (few and Redshift do not always go together), Amazon Redshift Serverless has announced a new discounted pricing. AWS offers up to a 24% discount for the all-upfront option and a 20% discount on the no-upfront option. All the options are for a one-year term.

Events

29th of April: Ctrl+Alt+Migrate: Rebooting to the Cloud from AWS User Group Athens. Do not miss this if you live in Athens!

AWS Community Day Adria: Registration has opened. This event will be on the 5th of September, and it is going to have excellent speakers! Jeff Barr will be doing the keynote!

Feel free to reach out if you want to add your upcoming event here

Are We Really a Team? by

Christos Chatzis
. A really nice post about what it really means to be a team. I agree that the team is so much more than being together

Being a team isn’t about how often we’re together.

It’s about how deeply we’ve got each other’s backs—even when we’re apart.

Scaling Global: 8 Use Cases Where CloudFront Performs Best by

Lefteris Karageorgiou
. An informative post about Amazon’s CDN solution, CloudFront. Lefteris presents eight use cases where CloudFront shines.

Remember that effective CDN implementation is not just about deployment—it's about continuous optimization.

Till the next time, stay safe and have fun!
